His academic foundation was laid at Saint Louis University, where he earned a degree in Biomedical Engineering. The University of Kansas was the next stop on his academic journey, where he attended medical school. He then completed an internship in General Surgery in Birmingham, Alabama, before returning to Kansas City for his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

His education culminated in a fellowship in Interventional Spine and Sports under the guidance of Dr. Anthony Giuffrida. Not only did Dr. Westerhaus train under Dr. Giuffrida, but he also continues to collaborate with him daily in their current practice, further enriching his approach to pain management. I highly recommend Dr Benjamin Westerhaus at Paley institute After initial consultation and MRI, I just had cortisone injection on my lower back today Dr Westerhaus and nursing staff were extremely warm and accommodating It has been 6 hours since the injection and i am feeling fine.
