I have always enjoyed physical activity. It is a very important part of my life. Due to a bicycle accident in May 2017, my ability to not only work out but also perform normal choirs such as gardening became almost impossible. My condition continued to worsen to the point it became difficult to walk without risking incredible spasmodic pain in one or both legs. In September 2017, I visited my primary doctor who diagnosed a neurological issue which diagnosis was confirmed by a neurologist. A friend and orthopedic surgeon highly recommended Dr. Jeff Cantor. When I visited Dr. Cantor, I was admittedly skeptical of his claim that following surgery I would be without pain and able to resume all those activities I had been doing before my bike accident.

In early November 2017, at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, FL, Dr. Cantor performed an Extreme Lumbar Interbody Fusion. The operation lasted almost eight hours. That evening, after the nurses had left, I got out of my hospital bed and walked – no spasmodic pain, none, just as Dr. Cantor had promised. Now, 15 months after the operation, I am able to bicycle, ride the elliptical and Stairmaster machine, and also the treadmill without limitation or pain. Last week, I worked outside in my backyard for 5 1/2 hours on a construction project. That day and the next, I had no residual back pain. It is almost too good to be true. My back feels better now than it has in the last 25 or 30 years. I highly recommend Dr. Cantor. I don’t think there is a better back surgeon.
