LUMBAR DISC HERNIATION

A herniated disc in the lower back is one of the most common causes of back pain. This type of pain is often caused by aging or an increased amount of stress on the discs. Should a disc herniate, it may cause pressure on the spinal nerves or cord. Lower back pain and leg pain, weakness in the lower extremities, muscle spasms and reduced reflexes are common symptoms that may also be present alongside the herniated disc. In rare cases, a patient may also experience a loss of bladder or bowel control.
